SHBC Giving Guide

An explanation of where your giving goes, the different purposes of each Fund at SHBC.

General Fund

SHBC’s Annual Budget is approved by congregational vote at our Annual July Congregational Meeting. All giving goes to this fund by default unless otherwise designated. Please consider giving to this fund on a consistent basis as it includes all the general operations of our church such as:

  • Facilities (11% – heat, lights, general maintenance, etc.)
  • Administration (5% – office supplies, technology, etc.)
  • Missions (19% – regular support to our 20 missionary families
  • Ministries (10% – all ministries of the church)
  • Staff Salaries (55%)
  • General Fund Reserve This builds when spending is less than expenses
Designated Funds

These are Funds that are self- funded and not included in our General Fund or Annual Budget. As the Lord leads, please consider giving to these Funds above and beyond your regular giving to the General Fund.

  • “Deacons’ Fund” (Our benevolence fund to help people financially within our church)
  • “Youth Outreach” (Supports UGM Camps, Grant 0utreach & Youth Mission Trips)
  • Missions Related:
    • Designate to Specific Missionaries (Example: “Missions: Stewarts”)
    • “Missions: Emergency” (supports missionaries with emergency expenses.
  • “Building Capital Reserve” (For unexpected building and maintenance issues)
  • Vision Expansion Designations (future Capital Expansion)
    • “Vision – General” (undesignated Vision Funds, or funds simply designated “Vision” the Elders are allowed to allocate towards “Vision” projects at their discretion)
    • “Vision Parking Lot” (All funds designated “Parking Lot” are reserved for the paving project around the West Wing)
    • “Vision – Audio Visual” (All funds designated “Audio/Visual” are reserved for the expansion and upgrading of our AV systems inside our church facility)
    • “Vision – Property NOW” (Created for 2 Lots purchased December 2021- all funds designated “Property Now” go towards this)
